Thanks to all who joined this Tuesday night…

and especially to those that organized their favorite bar to turn off their lights for BlackoutNYC! A HUGE thanks goes out to our sponsor, Evolvist (www.Evolvist.com) who made this website possible.

We hope to grow this event in the years to come, with increased participation from both residents and businesses (think big… color of the Empire State Building on Aug 14th: OFF). We look forward to seeing you next year for the 5th anniversary of the Blackout!

Remember the Blackout?

Welcome to Lights Off

Lights Off is the official blog for Blackout NYC.
On Tuesday, August 14th, 2007, Blackout NYC will celebrate the 4th anniversary of this landmark New York event. New Yorkers are encouraged to organize their own micro-blackouts–in bars, cafes, or even their homes. Participating venues will flick off all their lights, using candles, lamps, and flashlights to recreate the unique night. Patrons will flock to these locations to share in the nostalgia of the evening, to gather in the flickering glow, to consider the city’s energy burden, and to celebrate the best of New York City after dark.
